Influence of Safety Experience and Environmental Conditions on Site Hazard Identification Performance

Improving the hazard identification ability of workers is an important way to reduce safety accidents at construction sites. Although previous studies have succeeded in improving performance, gap that they consider only two factors, worker’s experience and objective environmental conditions, analyze impact on performance. To fill above gap, a visual cognitive model was established. Sixteen field scenes were selected represent sites each condition. Eye-movement data extracted through eye-tracking experiments, differences between experts’ novices’ gazes during danger recognition these analyzed. The results indicate following: bright can significantly improve correct rate information processing identification; tidy search efficiency workers’ rates processing; reducing distractions effectively hazards. Overall, optimal site brightness needs be further studied distraction effect. This study provides recommendations for direction training management site.
